Today I am going to be doing a blogpost about another natural disaster but this time I will be writing about...Floods! I am going to be writing about floods because I find them very interesting and I am very intrigued to learn about them.WE have done another reading jigsaw and so I decided to write about floods with my group Bianna, David, Perenara and Timeus.
------------------------------------------------
Floods cannot be prevented and it is known as one of the most deadliest natural disasters.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Floods are also caused due to a heavy storm or when a river overflows its barrier and dependent on the flood it can have different amount of pace and it is much more worse if you have saturated ground .
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Image result for after effects of floodThe after effects of a flood:
  1. You can lose a lot of your belongings.
  2. Lose members of you family.
  3. You can’t drink the water because it might have sewage water or poison chemicals which you should NOT put in your body.
  4. Become homeless because house is wrecked.

Kia Ora viewers, unicorns, aliens or who or whatever and welcome back to my blog!
Image result for positive, thoughtful, helpful commentsToday I am going to be doing a blog about what we had learnt during our Cyber smart lesson yesterday. We were talking about how we should be careful about what we come across on the Internet and what we should be spreading on the Internet. Our WALT for that time of day was,
WALT: Interact with others online in a THOUGHTFUL, POSITIVE & HELPFUL way.
So from that WALT you can tell that we are interacting with people and how do we interact with other schools, through our blogs.

Image result for positive, thoughtful, helpful comments
For our Cybersmart lesson we had to go onto the Manaiakalani Cluster blogs and we had to choose 3 different schools to leave one of the thoughtful,  positive and helpful comments. I had decided to blog on the schools Ruapotaka, Panmure Bridge and Pt. England. The students that I left there blogs on were Bella (Panmure Bridge), Sebastian (Ruapotaka) and Skye (Pt. England) . I had left a thoughtful comment onto Sebastian's blog, a positive comment on Bella's blog and a helpful comment on Skye's blog.

Here are the links to their blogs:
Sebastian
Skye
Bella

At the end of each blog I tried to ask a question about the topic that they were writing about because I want to know more deeply about the subject that they are blogging about.

Here are the comments separately:
Positive Comments - Bella

Thoughtful Comment - Sebastian

Helpful Comment - Skye

Here is my slide:

➗Math Test➗

➗Math Test➗
Image result for maths testToday I will be sharing a reflection about our E-asttle Maths test from yesterday. Yesterday we had an E-asttle test just to test where we were during the half of the year. I was honestly very nervous because I did not want my levels to drop on maths.

We first had to sign in which was a trouble because I could not remember my password that I had created from 2 years ago, and what made that worst was when Mrs. Fepuleai was able to make us reset our password my Internet had cut off and I had missed some of the test while some people were in the middle of it so that was not great. So my Internet had reconnected and I was ready to start my test. I was even more nervous because I was afraid that my Internet would cut off and I would have to start my test all over again which I was NOT looking forward to.

Image result for maths testI was in the middle of my test and as any other student and I knew I couldn't ask for help from my teachers or classmates so I was just sitting there trying to find out if this was a percent, fraction or a decimals problem, but just thinking and sitting there I knew I could solve the problem if I have just tried. So I was on my second to last question and I was thinking and as I looked at the timer it had said 5,4,3,2... and my test had automatically ended but was finished. I was quite mad since my test hadn't even finished and my timer just went out but hey I guess now I can move on.

Something that I found challenging during this test was as I said to figure out what kind of problem it was abd to being able to figure the answer out with problems I couldn't understand. What I enjoyed about the test was being able to have a growth mindset towards the test after having a holiday mode. My next goal is to learn my fractions, ratios and decimals to get better at Maths!

Hope you enjoyed the reflection I have written! Please comment what you think I can improve on!

Question of the blog - What is the hardest test you have ever done?

🔥Bushfire Research🔥

🔥Bushfire Research🔥
Aloha viewers.unicorns, aliens or who or whatever you are and welcome back to my blog!
Related imageToday I am going to be doing a blogpost about another natural disaster but this time I will be writing about... WILDFIRES/BUSHFIRES! I am going to be writing about wildfires/bushfires because I find them very interesting and I am very intrigued to learn about them. I do not know that much about bushfires but I know with a lot of research I can figure this puzzle out!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Wildfires are uncontrollable blazer which are fuelled all with weather, wind and dry underbrush (small tree or shrub). Wildfires are also known as forest fires and bushfires and they can burn acres of land in minutes and will consume of what is in their way.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Image result for bushfiresWildfires are most commonly to occur due to lightning, volcanic eruptions and sadly also humans carelessness. An example of the human carelessness is that,
'In October 2007, a 10 year old boy were playing with matches in California. The fire had gotten bigger and Santa Ana winds had spread very quickly and they had turn into flames.'. Here is where I got the information to this story - CLICK ME! Wildfires can also be caused when a Cigarette is found in a dry land causing the land to catch on fire or start a bushfire.
-----------------------------------------------------------
We are more affecting the bushfires more than they are affecting us. We are affecting bushfires because some people choose to smoke around dry land which creates the bushfire. One way that bushfires can affect us is that the heat and the smoke can make us go out of breath. But majority of bushfires are caused due to people carelessness.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Image result for next stepsSomething that I found challenging about this task was staying focused because I tend to get distracted easily which is not good since I am a student who takes there netbook home and is a student leader so I must focus on that which is my next learning steps.

Something I enjoyed about this task was working collaboratively with my classmate, Faka'ata, who was also researching about bushfires and we had came up with a definition together;
'A fire to a forest that burns rapidly'. I also loved researching about the topic on my netbook and book which I found very interesting.
-----------------------------------------------------------
IALA: What bushfires are, how they are caused and how they affect us!

➗Math Games➗

➗Math Games➗
Yesterday we had Math games in the middle block but sadly you guys may not know that because since I was busy yesterday I didn't have the time till later so I had to start at night which gave me time to just finish off my Landslides doc which took quite a while. Well today I will be doing a reflection about TODAY'S Math games that we have done.

It was after lunch that we had started to play and we had to go on a table that had minimum 2 and maximum 4. It was Grace and I on a table and then our 2 classmates, Leilani and Akanesi, had came and they came to sit with us the yellow table closest to Ms. Komors desk so we had to be quiet and make sure to not make noise. Ms. Komor was going to hand out Math games from the cupboard and my group wanted to have the cards and luckily we did which was very exciting.

Image result for playing cardThe game we had played with the playing cards was this game that Akanesi showed us and it was called, 'Multiplication', so what we had to do was that we would pick a card from our piles that were flipped so we couldn't see the cards and whoever answered the numbers of the card and would multiply them first would win the cards. The 2 people that made it to  the finals of this game were Akanesi and Grace. They were super competitive but Grace came out as the lucky winner.

Image result for fraction cardsThe second game that we had played was a fraction game. The point of the game was that there was one player who had the words that spelt the fraction (Me) and there were 2 people (Grace and Leilani) who had the pictures which was a shape and a pizza and then there was just the person who had the plain fraction on its own (Akanesi). So I would put the card that I had down and Leilani, Akanesi and Grace had to compete to see who would put there card relating the card that I had put down and then we would swap and go clockwise around our square kind of shape which was really fun.

What I found challenging about this time of the day was probably figuring out the game because we just got given the stuff instead of being told which was very difficult.
Something that I enjoyed about this task was getting to hang out with Leilani and Akanesi because as I said my goal is to be more social with my classmates.
My next steps for when we do this task is to try to understand and say my fractions quickly.

I hope you enjoyed and please comment down below what you think I can improve on!

Edith.

Landslides - Natural Disasters!

Image result for landslidesTalofa lava viewers, unicorns, aliens or who or whatever you are and welcome back to my blog!
We had to pick a natural disaster that happens and so I have decided to base my research on landslides. I did not know what landslides were and I just thought of the song, 'Landslide' from 'Dixie Chicks'; I now know some facts about landslides that I would now like to share with you!

-----------------------------------------------------------
The first fact that I have learnt about landslides are that they are caused from Earthquakes. Earthquakes are caused from when the tectonic plates are shaking and since the tectonic plates are shaking they often make hills become unstable so the crust of the hill, trees and etc are crumbling and creating landslides. (Landslides are when the crust of hills and other things related to hills are becoming unstable cause some of its land to fall apart on the ground beneath it).
-----------------------------------------------------------
A second fact that I have learnt are about the people who are affected from landslides. Since landslides happen from Earthquakes the cliffs and hill have big clumps of dirt falling on houses, cars, roads and sadly even humans. The clump of dirt are really thick so it is really hard to get out of and they can leave you breathless which is not good and can lead to death.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Image result for hawaii landslidesThe last fact that I have learnt are about where landslides are most likely to be located. The most common places that are located to have landslides are in the states, Alaska, Pacific coastal ranges and also Hawaii. They are most likely to get landslides since there hills and trees are very weak and are fractured which lead them to have more landslides than other countries, cities or towns!

---------------------------------------------------------
Something that I found really challenging was researching the information because the Internet was lagging on mine and some other students netbooks in the classroom so instead of having the block to do this work we only had like 15-20 minutes. Luckily I could finish this work at home!

Something that I enjoyed about this part of this task was learning about the landslides because as I had said before I knew absolutely nothing about landslides until Ms. Komor had told us about them during Inquiry, which now I love learning about!

My next steps for this task is to add more detail and remembering where to put my punctuation properly and my spelling improvements that I am now editing so you might not see them!

My First Blog Reflection For Term 3 2018!

Kia ora viewers, unicorns, aliens or who or whatever you are and welcome back to my blog!
I hope you enjoy this first reflection for Term 3 2018 that I have created about my holidays!
-----------------------------------------------------------
My First Blog reflection for Term 3 2018!

I am back from the holidays and at school. I am up and going for this new term for 2018. I have a lot of things to write down for what I found exciting for the holidays; today I am going to be telling you 2 things that made my short holidays the best!

Image result for rugby ball
The first thing that I had enjoyed about these holidays that before we went to Gisborne we had stayed at our nan and papa's house for 3 1/2 days. We had stayed there for 3 1/2 days because on Friday we had left Auckland and headed down to a small town where I am from which is known as, 'Opotiki'. I had lived in Opotiki for 6 years until we had moved to Auckland so we try to go there as much as we can! We stayed for Saturday because it was our papa's birthday and he was getting his gold card since he was turning 65. It was so much fun because all of our cousins came so we played a game of touch and our cousins that were brothers were the captains because they are the eldest out of us. It was so much fun but unfortunately our team had lost by 1 point but we carried on and started to play with our nieces and nephews who are about 0 - 4 years old but they are so adorable and fun to hang out with. It was about 1:00 pm so we were having hangi for lunch and then we moved to desserts that my sister, nan and I had prepared which were amazing! It was about 3 when we had the cake which was chocolate cake with vanilla and chocolate flowers created with icing on the sides. It was delicious.

Image result for wainui
This is Wainui

It was Sunday the day after the party and we had started packing to go to Gisborne. There were 2 ways to go to Gisborne and 1 was through the forestry and the other one was in town. We decided to go through the town because my baby brother, Stephen, was only 1 month old so he was new to travelling and the town way was a much shorter way to get to Gisborne. We had got to Gisborne after about an hour and a half and all I did in the trip was reading my new book, 'Mysterious 4', which is a really good book; We had a house that we were renting for the week in not exactly in Gisborne but in this small town known as, 'Wainui'. Our house was huge and it had 3 bedrooms so me and my sister shared a room, my brother had his own room (Lucky him) and then my Mom, Dad and Stephen had the master bedroom (Also lucky). 2 days that I enjoyed while we were in Gisborne were Tuesday and Wednesday. I had enjoyed Tuesday because we had our grand-dad visited and so we went to the house and my dad and grand-dad had arrived with this delicious Chinese food. We had sat on the table that was outside to see the magnificent view, with all the tree's and the variety of colours which had created a marvellous sunset that I really loved. It was a fantastic time with grand-dad over.  Now I really enjoyed Wednesday because the reason we were down at Gisborne was because my dad had to work so we had decided to come down with him like a family trip; Anywho since our dad had always been working we decided to go out to have lunch at this park just down the road from where my dad had been working we had gone to this field with a beach view and about 5 different parks that were spread out through the field. We were having pizza for lunch and while we were eating my Mom had got a message from dad saying that he wouldn't be able to make it. We were quite down but we just carried on with our lunch and enjoyed the time. I wish our dad could have come to the park.

Image result for socialNow that I have spoken about my holidays there are a lot of things that I am looking forward to for Term 3. I am looking forward to all the sports tournaments because there are heaps of them coming up and I absolutely are going to try and do them! I am also looking forward to going back to Technology because tech is a fun time to learn and be creative at the exact same time. 2 goals that I have for myself is to have a growth mindset towards Maths because I want to try my best to learn fractions and divisions but I might not be able to do that if I have a fixed mindset. My second goal is to try and be more social because as I have said before, I am socially awkward and don't know how to connect with people. I want to improve on showing Whanaungatanga.

I hope you have read this blog and get a glimpse of the holiday that I have had and enjoyed. Although the holidays were a lot of fun I am very excited to go to school, hang out with friends, experience more learning and hopefully accomplish my goals.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Question of the blog - What is something you enjoyed about my reflection and why did you enjoy it?

Thank you for reading and get prepared for more things written by myself on this hopefully interesting blog!

IALT: Express what I am looking forward to in Term 3!

Ciao viewers, unicorns, aliens or what or whoever you are and welcome back to my blog!

So today is the last day until term 3 officially begins (Silent Scream), I know that kids don't usually like going back to school but I absolutely love it because we get to learn and I get to hang out with my peers and see what they have done in the holidays and what they are looking forward to. Since we are going to talk about what we are looking forward to I thought I might as well create a presentation which was inspired from my close friend, Lydia (Check her one out>

-----------------------------------------------------------
Here are the list of things I am looking forward to and my reasons
-----------------------------------------------------------
- Technology
I am excited for Technology because after I finish off my necklace and the time with Mr. Grundy is finished we are going into cooking class. I love cooking and I have loved it since I was 4 and so I am very excited to learn about how we can create our own meals!
------------------------------------------------------------ Netball Tournament
I love netball, and unless you are new you should definitely know that I love netball and I have been playing netball since I was the age of 4. I have a dream to play a game or even get to hang out with the Magics or even just my 2 role models for netball, Maria Faloa and also Kayla Cullen.
-----------------------------------------------------------
-Maths

I have always struggled with maths and instead of having a growth mindset I just never liked maths and I always hated maths, but  I want to change that because I need to set a good example and I just want to improve on this.
-----------------------------------------------------------
-Inquiry

I am excited for inquiry because our topic is… NATURAL DISASTERS! I am excited to learn about this because what I hear from the topic is that we will be learning about why natural disasters happen and how they occur. I cannot wait to learn the method of this topic from our teachers Ms. Aireen and Ms. Komor!

Here is the presentation I have created and please comment what you think I can improve on!
